The University has launched an additional set of actions to enhance campus safety and security and respond more effectively to crises in the future.
Following external reviews of the Dec. 13, 2025, shooting at Brown, the University released a detailed Safety and Security Action Plan to build on expansive efforts in recent months and years to strengthen safety and security for the campus. The Action Plan is part of a broader report released Aug. 28, 2026, on the key outcomes of external reviews of Brown’s preparedness and response to Dec. 13 and has been reproduced as a stand-alone document for ease of access and ongoing reference for our community as action steps are implemented.
The action plan provides details about extensive investments in security in the period since Dec. 13, spanning actions that will be taken through the 2026-27 academic year. The action plan is organized in six categories: (1) Governance and Accountability; (2) Leadership, Staffing, Organization and Training; (3) Emergency Preparedness and Protocols; (4) Tools and Technology; (5) Partnerships with External Law Enforcement and Local Organizations; and (6) Community Outreach and Engagement.
