Public Safety and Emergency Management

Blue-Light Phones

Blue Light Phones are stationed in strategic points on campus. They can be used to directly call Public Safety and allow officers to quickly determine your location so that they can more quickly assist you.

There are approximately 200 Blue Light Phones across the campus and in the Jewelry District. Locations of our Blue-Light phones may be viewed on the campus map by zooming in. If you don’t see the phone locations, check the map layers (at the top right corner) and ensure that the blue light phones under the Emergency Services layer are set to be visible.

When To Use

You should use a Blue Light phone if you feel uncomfortable, need assistance, or see something suspicious. It is better to call and let Public Safety assess the situation than to wait.

If you are being chased or feel threatened, activate the phones along your route. You do not need to stop and talk; this will allow Public Safety to track the location of each activated phone to find you.

To report a damaged or non-functioning Blue Light, please contact the Communications Center at 401-863-3322.
