We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Kugel as the University’s new Director of Emergency Management, Resiliency and Business Continuity, effective August 24, following the retirement of Chris Harwood.

In this role, Kevin will lead a team responsible for university-wide emergency planning, incident response coordination, fire safety operations, and business continuity strategy. He will partner closely with academic and administrative departments across campus to administer risk assessments, facilitate emergency drills and tabletop exercises, manage emergency alert systems, and maintain a safe, prepared, and resilient community.

Kevin joins us with over 30 years of crisis management and organizational leadership experience. He most recently served as Associate Director of Health, Safety & Security at Boston University Global Programs, and previously served as Senior Manager for Corporate Security & Resiliency at CVS Health and Director of the Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA). Kevin is a U.S. Army veteran and holds credentials as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and Professional Continuity Planner (PCP).
