The Brown University Department of Public Safety and Emergency Management provides this notice in compliance with the Timely Notice provision of the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act.


Incident

On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at approximately 10:04 PM, Brown University Public Safety and Emergency Management received a report of an assault near the intersection of Bowen and Brown Streets. A Brown University community member reported walking on Bowen Street toward Brown Street with several other individuals. Screaming was heard while occupants of a passing vehicle were driving by. As the group moved away from the area, the reporting party felt an object strike their waist and believed it may have been a projectile. No injuries were reported. The vehicle, driver, and passengers have not been identified or described. 

This matter is under investigation by the Providence Police Department. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Providence Police Department at 401-272-3121 or the Brown University Department of Public Safety at 401-863-3322.
